Beyonce Covers Marie Claire

Beyonce covers October's issue of Marie Claire, here are some parts from the exclusive interview.

Beyonce on her alter ego Sasha:

‘I’ve created an alter ego [she refers to her on-stage persona as ‘Sasha’]: things I do when performing I would never do normally. I reveal things about myself that I wouldn’t do in an interview. I have out-of-body experiences [on stage].

If I cut my leg, if I fall, I don’t even feel it. I’m so fearless, I’m not aware of my face or my body.'

Beyonce on whether there is a time limit to being a pop star:

‘Being a pop star, yes. Being a legend, an icon, absolutely not. And, at this point, that’s what I’m trying to do. I’m over being a pop star. I don’t wanna be a hot girl. I wanna be iconic. And I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot.

I feel like I’m highly respected, which is more important than any award or any amount of records. And I feel like there comes a point when being a pop star is not enough.’

Beyonce on her success:

'I am really proud that I am one of the artists that has the opportunity to be on magazine covers and to be in the movies. And I do think that I’m opening doors for more black women, just like Halle [Berry] and Diana Ross opened doors for me.’

Leona Lewis on Regis and Kelly!

Leona Lewis performed "Better In Time" on Regis and Kelly this Wednesday. It's a sweet song, but not extraordinary. I think her popularity really helped her for this song. Don't get me wrong she does have an amazing voice, but she should start releasing a broader variety of songs.

Usher Dreams Of The Super Bowl!

Usher will perform the football season’s kickoff concert on Thursday in New York’s Columbus Circle along with Keith Urban and Natasha Bedingfield. The 3 p.m. concert will be held just before the season opener, when the Washington Redskins take on the Super Bowl champion New York Giants.

Usher is already aiming at next year's Super Bowl:

“I don’t think it’s too early to consider it,” said Usher, speaking from Atlanta. “Certainly being associated with the organization makes that a lot more possible. There have been conversations for a lot of years about me being part of a performance at a Super Bowl.”

He added: “I’m hoping that this leads, definitely, to that. This whole process is basically you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.”

Recently Prince and Tom Petty performed at the Super Bowl, can Usher really pull it through?

At the kickoff concert, Usher plans to perform “Here I Stand,” “Changing Places” and “What’s Your Name” with guest star will.i.am.

Do you think Usher would be the right choice for the Super Bowl?

Linkin Park, which released its “Minutes To Midnight” after 4 years long break since its “Meteora” in 2003, is planning to release its next album in 2009 and has already started working on a few songs. Sources say that the band doesn’t want to repeat the gap of 4 years again and is wishing to be as consistent as possible.

Mike Shinoda was quoted saying: "Actually I’ve been doing a couple of studio dates out on the road, which is new for me," and that "I did a date when we were touring in Germany, one date in Prague, a bunch of dates in New York, and I’m excited about that. It’s been very cool for us. So long story short, we’ve been putting in a lot of work and hopefully we could have a new record out next year."

The band was committed to their “Projekt Revolution tour”, until August 24 and will now concentrate on their next album.

The Pussycat Dolls have selected a second single from their new album Doll Domination (to be released Sept. 23). “Whatcha Think About That” featuring Missy Elliott will be the follow-up to the group’s hit “When I Grow Up.” The song will be released as a digital single on September 9th.

What do you think of the new song?

Shakira - Becoming Too Political

In an effort to encourage peace and tolerance, Shakira has decided to record her new song half in English and half in Arabic. Arabic-American singer Dania Youssef will partner with Shakira on the not yet titled song.

Furthermore, an Egyptian composer Mohamed Saad is reportedly writing the Arabic portion of the song, as well as the music. Shakira is trying to show the positive sides of the Arabic world.

The video will be shot in the United Arab Emirates.

To be fair, perhaps she should make a second song and this time make one half in English and the other half in Hebrew. In general, artists shouldn't get so involved with politics.

Go pick up the August/September issue of Giant Magazine now, it's got a very intersting interview with Solange Knowles and check out these amazing pictures!

Here is an excerpt from her interview:

“Years ago, we had theses shelves in our living room.” Matthew Knowles says. “They where filled with trophies and plaques my older daughter, Beyoncé, had won in different talent shows. I came home from work one day, and every last one of those trophies was broken and scattered across the room!” He smiles at the memory, shaking his head. “Solange broke them, every single one–and didn’t deny it.”

Here’s what Solange had to say about that memory:

“One day I just got tired of looking at those damn trophies, so yeah I broke ‘em up!”

Michael Jackson Turns 50!

Michael Jackson, one of the most talented artists of all time turned 50 today. The king of pop shared an exclusive interview with "Good Morning America" and basically let them know how he felt about turning 50.

Listen to the entire interview here

On his plans for his big day:

"Just have a little cake with my children and we'll probably watch some cartoons -- before getting right back to work.

His greatest achievements (Songs) / Future plans:

Oh boy, that's a hard one," he said, before singling out "We Are the World," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller."

But Jackson was not content to rest on his laurels, saying, "I am still looking forward to doing a lot of great things."

He hopes to release new music and tour, though he doesn't have dates set.

"I am writing all the time," he said. "I love composing and the whole thing. But I am also raising my children and enjoying it and teaching them to ride bicycles and how to read. I love it."

On his kids:

Asked if he'd like his two sons and daughter to have the same sort of upbringing as him, he said he'd prefer to let them "enjoy their childhood as much as possible."

"I let them go to the arcade and go to the movies and do things," he said. "I want them to get to do the kind of things I didn't get to do. So, I fill them with a lot of enjoyment that way -- a lot of amusement. You know?

"I get pretty emotional when I see them having a wonderful time," he added, "when they are on a ride and they are screaming and they are happy. ... It makes me emotional, 'cause I see they are having a real good time."

Jackson said his kids "love music ... they are very much into the arts," but that, "I don't push them."

Madonna Launches Sticky and Sweet Tour

Madonna started her latest tour last night, a week after turning 50, offering 40,000 fans in Cardiff two hours of her trademark high-energy disco, costume changes and controversy.

Her two-hour show at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium included a video interlude seen by some fans as an attack on John McCain, the U.S. Republican presidential candidate, whose image they noticed briefly flashed up alongside Adolf Hitler and Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe.

Madonna's show had 24 songs, 250 crew, eight costume changes and 16 support artists who break danced, pole danced and flamenco stepped in fetish and bondage outfits. Madonna first appeared through a haze of lasers on a black leather throne and launched into "Candy Shop" off her latest album "Hard Candy."

The set featured recent material alongside remixes of some old hits, which included "Borderline", "La Isla Bonita", "Like a Prayer" along with heavy bass and a techno beat.

The concert was split into four sections, Pimp, Old School, Gypsy, and Rave. She ended the show with "Give It To Me".
